Inc. is a 503c non-profit corporation devoted to serving the elderly,
mentally ill and disadvantaged. Founded in 1967 as San Pedro Residential
Center, Inc. and as a California State licensed board-and-care for the
mentally ill, it was unique in the fact that the facility is located
in the historic five-story former Army Navy YMCA building over looking
the harbor at the Port of Los Angeles. Originally housing up to 287 residents
suffering from mental illness in an unlocked environment. In 1974, 83
of those beds on its fifth floor were licensed as Intermediate skilled
nursing beds. This enabled the company provide nursing supervision for
those residents suffering from a medical illness along with their psychiatric
disorders.
In 1994, the company expanded its services to senior retirement living with the acquisition of Lynwood Villa now HealthView Terrace, a 178 bed assisted living facility for seniors in Lynwood, California. In 1996, it launched Life Care Plus, now HealthView Home Health Inc., a Medicare/Medical certified, JACHO accredited home health agency.
In the following years, HealthView has grown in size and services with the management of HealthView Pine Villa assisted living, HealthView Behavioral Services Center, and HealthView Physical Rehabilitation Center. Though we no longer own HealthView Terrace we manage an operate HealthView Pine Villa, an assisted living facility on 8th and Pine streets, in Long Beach, California where we provide assisted living services for seniors along with a specialized floor for those suffering from dementia.
In 2000 the Living Museum Art Center was created as part of Harbor View House's Expressive Arts program . The Center is designed to enrich and improve the lives of those suffering from mental illness. This dynamic program helps the individual re-identify himself not as some one with mental illness doing art, but an artist who happens to suffer from mental illness. Through exhibition and sales of their work we see increased self esteem and enjoyment of life. We will continue to create other dynamic programs regarding music, photography, dance, and work-experience to benefit the residents.
The Café Club Music Center opened in December of 2007 and provides music, choral and instrument instruction and music appreciation and socialization during the day, and a social coffee club atmosphere with local entertainment at night.
HealthView Inc. serves over 500 clients daily in Southern California with a staff of over 250 service and healthcare professionals.
