Vernon Gettys | Chief Executive Officer
Vernon Gettys graduated with a degree in Hotel Restaurant Management from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, in 1983. He has over 23 years of experience in the healthcare industry. He came to HealthView Inc. in 1993 as an Administrator in Training (AIT). He subsequently managed HealthView's nursing unit, retirement home, home health agency and adult residential facility. In 1998 he was promoted to his current position as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Gettys has guided the company through the difficult times affecting the healthcare industry and has expanded services—always keeping in mind HealthView's mission to reduce hospitalization and institutionalization.

Mr. Gettys was instrumental in the formation of HealthView Home Health, Inc. in 1995 which provides much needed resources for the many innovative programs now being offered at Harbor View House. These include the Living Museum Art Center (LMAC), the Café Club Music Center, HealthView Physical Rehabilitation Center (HVPRC), HealthView Behavioral Services Center (HVBSC) and the Resident Work Program. These programs go beyond the State licensing requirements of services required at Harbor View House to provide increased opportunity, growth and improved quality of life for those suffering from mental illness.


Jeff Smith | Chief Financial Officer
Jeffrey Smith, a Certified Public Accountant, was first introduced to HealthView, Inc. when asked to fill in on an interim basis while the corporation searched for a Chief Financial Officer. After two short weeks, Jeffrey decided this was a good fit for him and subsequently was hired as our new Chief Financial Officer.

Jeffrey graduated from California State University of Long Beach in 1986 where he received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a concentration on Accounting. Prior to joining HealthView, Inc., Jeffrey worked in public accounting, specializing in not-for-profit organizations, governmental compliance and tax consulting. Jeffrey was responsible for the modernization of the Business and Accounting Departments and several acquisitions at HealthView, Inc.


Susan Major | Executive Director
Susan Major, Executive Director joined HealthView, Inc. as Director of Marketing in October 2001 and became Executive Director in 2003.Susan has an extensive background, over 40 years, in the health care environment. She began her career as a Registered Nurse in England, eventually specializing in home care, and became a nurse educator. After traveling to South Africa, she pursued a second career in Business Recruitment and graduated from the University of Witwaterstrand, Johannesburg, with a degree in Human Resource Management. Her experience at this time in senior management was extremely diverse and ranged from new program development, organizing start-up operations to Training and Development When she fulfilled her life long dream in coming to America, she resumed her original calling in the home care arena. She has spent the last 22 years focusing on all aspects of health care management from start-up operations to managing multi-million dollar operations.


Denise Stanton RN, BSN, PHN | Administrator/DPSC - HealthView Home Health, Inc.
Denise joined HealthView Home Health, Inc. in April 2001 as the Administrator and Director of Patient Care Services. She has 24 years experience in various positions in the home health field. She has worked in all types of home care agencies ranging from Private-Community based, Proprietary-Hospital based to the nonprofit environment. She started her nursing career in the Intensive Care Unit and after six years discovered her real love was community health nursing. Denise received her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of San Francisco.


Maria Sanchez | Human Resources Manager
Maria J. Sanchez became the Human Resources Director for HealthView, Inc. in June, 2002. Although her office is located at the Harbor View House facility, she manages all aspects of human resources, worker’s compensation, benefits and employee relations for all HealthView, Inc. facilities. Prior to joining the HealthView, Inc. team, she held similar positions for for-profit organizations, totaling over 18 years of experience and knowledge in the human resources field. She leads by example, supporting management at all levels; she is certified in human resources management. Maria is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, National Notary Association, and works closely with Employer’s Group and other employment advisers.


Walter Taylor | Administrator - Harbor View House Adult Residential Facility (ARF)
Walter Taylor has been with HealthView, Inc. since 1993, and has served as the Harbor View House Adult Residential Facility Administrator for the past eight years. Mr. Taylor is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach with a degree in Finance and Accounting and is currently courses to become a Registered Nurse. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1969 to 1973 and was Honorably Discharged as a Platoon Sergeant.


Carla Williams, MA, NHA | Administrator - Harbor View House Intermediate Care Facility (ICF)
Carla Duke Williams is the Administrator of the Harbor View House Intermediate Care Facility. Carla has worked at HealthView, Inc. for the past nine years, holding a variety of positions within the company including Community Relations Coordinator, Assistant Program Director of Harbor View House's Day Rehabilitation Program, Assistant Administrator of our former assisted living facility in Lynwood and, most recently, as Administrator of HealthView Adult Day Healthcare Center. Carla holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and graduated in 2001 with a Master of Arts degree in Gerontology from California State University Dominguez Hills.


Christy Oh, RN | Director of Nursing
Christy Oh, RN is the Director of Nursing for Harbor View House Intermediate Care Facility. Christy received her nursing degree at the Seoul Nursing College in South Korea. She worked in Seoul City Hospital for 2 years in the med/surge department before moving to the United States in 1976. After raising her two children she returned to nursing in 1989 as a Nursing Supervisor in a 99-bed psych unit where she discovered her interest in working with the mentally ill.

Christy has extensive experience in long term care, most recently at Lakewood Park Health Center, a 191 bed locked psych unit where she held both the Assistant DON and DON position during her 15 years there.


Michael Fitzgerald | Program Director - HealthView, Inc. Behavioral Services Center
Michael Fitzgerald, Program Director of HealthView Behavioral Services Center has worked in the healthcare field for over 13 years. He started out working with adolescents in 1994 as a MHW at BHC Alhambra Hospital (an Acute Care Psychiatric Facility) where he helped guide day-to-day operations and create programming. Michael went on to work with Adults in Acute Care Hospitalization for a year, and decided that in-patient hospitalization did not give him the opportunity to follow-up with patient care (believing there is more to patient care than stabilization).

Harbor View House gave Michael the opportunity to experience and grow in the Psychosocial Rehabilitative Recovery model in 2004. Michael believes when we are able to change the culture of the community that we serve we, as a community, will stop seeing our clients as their illness; but as people with hope, who are empowered by the pursuit of their dreams, people who are not crippled by dependence, and as a result have found meaningful life roles (father, mother, doctor, clergy, teacher, lover, etc.).


Dr. Gnyandev Patel, MD | Medical Director - Intermediate Care Nursing Facility
Diplomate American Board of Internal Medicine, California Medical License No. A61869

Dr. Gnyandev Patel graduated from university of Bombay. He received his bachelor of medicine and surgery from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College. He did his internship and residency at Los Angeles County Medical Center and is currently the senior partner with NEHA Medical Group. Dr. Patel is married to Kalpana Patel, MD who is a gastroenterologist in Long Beach. They have two beautiful children, Neha and Rohun. In addition to his clinical medicine practice, Dr. Patel is also an avid researcher involved with several clinical research trials; who still finds time to work with several charities and enjoys reading, traveling and flying in his free time.


Dr. James Brust | Staff Psychiatrist
Dr. Brust joined the Harbor View House staff on July 1, 1974. His background includes:

  • Graduate of Boston University – School of Medicine 1968
  • Internship at LAC USC Medical Center
  • Psychiatry Residency at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center
  • Board Certified in Psychiatry
  • Private Practice
  • Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and Medical Director at Bridges-Psychiatric Unit at Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center in San Pedro, California
  • Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA
